I'd say nay.
Does Warne make an extension base for the front base? (I know Weaver does just for this type of situation).
Nice setup though.

Thanks WN!! At the risk of sounding really ignorant I'm not sure if this is a "large ring" or a "small ring" Mauser 98. I'm worried the Weaver Extension base will slightly eclipse the loading port??? Not a big deal but I guess functionality is more important then asthetics....

Can anyone tell me if this M98 is large ring Mauser or a small ring Mauser?

.358LOVER - I wish I could help you but I'm not much of a Mauser expert. If I had to guess from the picture, I'd say it was a large ring Mauser. Someone will be along to correct me I'm sure... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Nice rifle! CEJ...

If it's a 98, then it's a large ring Mauser, by definition.
Small-ring Mausers are the 93, 94, 95, 96 models, exemplified by the Swedish Mausers.

For sure a Large Ring see how the diameter increases toward the front of the reciever? A SR would be a smooth (same raditus) front to back. I fear for the lens inside the tube under the scope mount ring. Since the stripper clip ridge is still there you can modify the reciever and move the REAR ring forward, a better plan, I think, gaining a little eye relief also.
