OK, let's look into September. Any objections to any of the following Sept 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 or 29??

Realistically, unless there will be a low turnout, it will likely be one of these days. I'm really zeroing in on 9/21. That will allow ample planning time.

Sept. 20 is possible, 21 even more marginal. After that we'll have an ocean and a continent or two between us till mid Oct.

7mmbuster, what unit were you in? I was in the 1st SFG(A) at Ft. Lewis from 8/87 to 1/92. Keep me posted on the dates; I'll make it if I can. Okie John.

By the way, if enough Oregoniacs are interested, it might be considered good form to move the meeting location a little farther south, but we'll wait and see what the response is first.

Wade, how far South? Any day is fine with me i'm retarded. Been going to the mail box two, three times a day looking for my ticket. Have you mailed it yet? If you get the get together as far Southeast as Denver or Albuquerque I will buy my own ticket!! Bet there is a bunch that would make that one. Work is your own worst enemy, trying to get working people together. Saturday evening give the most travel time. -- no

So it is settled then, we will all show up at Waders or Bullwnkls place and chow down.

OK then, 9/21 is the "final" date.

Next issue: If we move the location to Olympia/Lacey, it shaves 30 minutes each way off the drive from Oregon. There is an Outback Steakhouse by Capital Mall. Lots of "manfood" for everyone. Any objections? If so, suggest an alternative. As soon as we get a place picked, I'll contact the place to see about reservations, etc.

Wade, 9/21 it is and I like Outback steaks. I'll have to hold off on reserving a spot for awhile yet. Still some wrinkles in the schedule for me, and I'm wary (from experience) of committing to something in the last few days before a major trip. I haven't anwered til now because I was keeping an appointmnent with some halibut off Newport, OR, with blackberry ala mode at Spiffy's on the way down and lemon meringue on the way back.

COUNT ME IN!!!!!! Sorry I didn't see this and respond earlier, as I've got limited chances to get online, check email, and then do a quick browse of the Campfire.

I'd really, really like to go to the get together in WA. If my luck holds and all works out, I should be getting to Lewis around the end of September. RIP should start around the first week of September and it's three weeks long. I'm pretty sure I won't have leave to go home after RIP, as the Rangers are on block leave.

I'll keep coming back to this thread periodically as I learn more. Whatever plans you guys make I'll try to be there.

This is good: extra incentive to drive on in RIP! Great idea, Waders. JustinH

Wade if you settle on Oly town and Out Back I can perhaps help out with logistics as I work only a couple miles from the Resturant. I have maps of the area. The Out Back is very easy to get too from I-5 South or North.
There is also COCO's next door (good pies).

Bullwnkl.

Cool Bullwnkl. Do you think you could come up with the "Official Directions" and post them here?? Also if you could post the address of the Outback, then people can get maps via Yahoo. (Anybody who's never done that before and needs help can email me or call me 360-736-2352).

OK, so who all is up for this proposition?

Wade, we'll have to do that pie another time. Apple is next on my list anyway as I work through the menu. This trip was on fairly short notice, at the invite of another guy and in his vehicle. A former boss, and a great one, he's had a stroke and needed just a little help. My time was not my own, couldn't predict times of arrival accurately, etc. We'll try again. Thanks for the encouragment to do so. Nice trip on his brother's boat in Newport, 32 foot with twin Cat diesels.
