I've made it a couple of times. I used elk burger and dispensed with the bacon in order to try to keep the fat to a quasi reasonable level.

I've eaten this one at least six times on deer and antelope hunting trips to Western Nebraska. You can find it at Sioux Sundries in Harrison,NE and it is called the Coffee Burger. It's named after a local rancher, Joe Coffee that used to joke about the tiny burgers that they served to his ranch hands. At a mere two pounds, this one is child's play. It's served with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle on the side. Mike

I tried going vegan, but then realized it was a big missed steak.

Which one? The Krispy Kreme, the Quadruple By-pass, the Stellanator or the Coffee burger? Or does it really matter? Mike

Another great twist is grinding bacon and mixing it 50/50 with hamburger. 'Fine' grind works the best and I used 1/2 pound of the mix to end up with a 1/3 pound (or so) burger. Yes, you still need to add a couple slices of bacon to the finished product. We do this one all the time! Don't want a regular burger at all after this one!

My favorite place has a cheeseburger that they add ham and an over easy egg to. Screw it, I'm heading for one now, even if I have to ride my bike an extra 20 miles tomorrow.
