Anyone fish the Gore Range? We spent three days up there (June 14-16). There was a lot of snow remaining but we found some nice open water on a good trout stream. We'll be back when the high-altitude lakes open up in a couple weeks.

Good photos. Looks like a fun trip. Thanks for sharing.

Surprised to see timberline lakes still frozen in the Gore Range, since it has been so warm lately. Just got back from a trip above timberline on Pikes Peak and all lakes have open water. Also there's a lot more snow in the shadows of the Gore Range than on Pikes Peak.

KC - The trip was a full 10 days ago now. I'm going back up to a different drainage this weekend and expect to find open water and hungry fish.

Hope you enjoy your trip.

I'll be fishing timberline lakes in the Sangre De Cristos with my Grandson July 1 - 3.

KC - Thanks, you too.

Love the Sangre De Cristo mountains. Just don't stop at the little general store in Crestone. All the perishables in there are about 8 weeks past the "use by" date. Haha.

I'll be going in from the east so it would be a long trek to Crestone. It's been a long time since I've been there. Is the Road Kill Caf still in operation?

I think the Road Kill Cafe went out of business. Place was a ghost town last time we went through. Perhaps someone who has been there recently will post . . .

Cheers!

I should probably disclose that I shoot in RAW and develop in Lightroom. No "special effects" though. I exposed the sky just a little more in order to sharpen the silhouettes of trees.

The APS-C sensor does a good job in low light.

Thanks. Have to checkout Lightroom. I use Photoshop a lot, but have never tried Lightroom, not sure of the different capabilities.

Yeah I'm not sure either. My father-in-law got me started in Lightroom and that's all I know.

I was in the never summer range last weekend. All the lakes there (10000-11000') were open but the snow on any North slope was 2-6' deep, a lot of detouring to get where you wanted to go. Have a Mule deer tag for that area so I will be spending a lot of time up there in a couple of weeks scouting. Pictures will follow.

I guess that's why the elk are up there, if it is cold enough to keep snow on the north slopes into June/July.

There are no bad days hunting elk, some are just better.
