Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed laws strengthening the penalties for "propagating homosexuality among minors" and for insulting the sensitivities of the religious.

The so-called "antigay" law Putin signed on June 30 introduces fines of up to 200,000 rubles ($6,700) for those found guilty of disseminating propaganda involving "nontraditional sexual relations" to minors through the media or Internet, which may cause a distorted understanding that gay relations and heterosexual relations are socially equivalent.

The addition to the law on freedom of belief and worship imposes fines up to 300,000 rubles ($10,000) for those convicted of "public actions expressing a clear disrespect to a community, committed with the goal of insulting the religious sensitivities of believers."

Good for Putin, Obama could take lessons from him

Universal suffrage is a joke, it produces "leaders" like Obama.

Russia has advanced in morality to where America was prior to 1861, America has become what was the Soviet Union in 1918. We're about to go through several decades of internal strife, only the Bolsheviks won't have to fire a shot here: they run the schools, government, major news media, and financial institutions.

Good for Putin. The Russians seem to have expelled all of their cultural Marxist oppressors and returned to traditional Western morality. We, on the other hand, are just about completely subjugated by our own cultural Marxists. Where bankers rule over governments, cultural Marxism will be imposed on the people. Where bankers are kicked out of power, cultural Marxism will be held in public scorn.

Maybe that's why they call it suffrage everyone suffers.

So you want the government passing a law that keeps you from insulting the religious. It says and I quote "for insulting the sensitivities of the religious" or some such wording. What you like like your sentence to be for saying Muslims are terrorist? Just a thought.

I was primarily referring to the first part of it, but I would be willing to bet that the intention of the second part of it came from an impulse to defend traditional Christianity from such things as entering churches and engaging in profane conduct and speech designed to insult worshipers and religious. Whether or not we would consider that legislative approach misguided, I would applaud that impulse.

Obama would likely be arrested for breaking both those laws.
