Thanks.
I had to google where in the state that is. I have driven through Rock Springs several times and never knew.

I used to hunt the high desert of west Texas. Yes, we drove the ranch roads (if you can call them that) glassed for game, once spotted, we did the stalk thing. This is big country and game is there, but as sparce as the vegetation.
I found out that the truck may be the worst enemy of optics. Combine sub freezing nights, and days often into the eighties, and glass left in the truck, especially on the dash, has to be tough.
The first experience I had with a Swarovski binocular was not good. Two years in succession, they came apart on the inside while riding the truck or around my neck. I suspect the adhesives were not up to the job. Giving credit when due, after year two, they came back and have stayed intact ever since. Fortunately, I had a pocket binocular for back up.
They may not get beat up badly in the truck, but it may not be an easy life either.

So does this guy only buy his optics to resale them? I only have 'mid' level optics (Leupold, Minox) but would run the high end stuff if I could. Buy the best you can afford and use them.

I'm not sure if BCD is trolling, or if he's just high on peyote.

All you want is a scope to hold Zero for a short time and they are Gone!Rifles are a very diff thing> Fathers hand down rifles to their sons > good or bad. Have you ever went to EBAY???> Im sure you have and seen a very ex scope for sale but its not in very good shape!> the price will be penneys on the dollar for this scope and even bought! Its a fact of life in a hard hunt scopes get thrashed ! and then discarded for new ones!> thats the fact Jack! There are some that go from the truck to looking around and back to the truck!Thats the best buy!> But As I see it buy Cheap !> just to hold Zero and the Get rid of It > Because as I said Ive seen 1000.00 buck scope ridden hard and put away wet on EBAY go for a Buck and 1/2!

bcd,
Your experience is worlds apart from mine. I buy inexpensive stuff and expensive stuff. The only scope that went back for any reason was because I foolishly fired some rounds I found in the barn at the house I bought. The scope got bent.
The rest of my optics last for years.

The rest of my optics last for years. I've had the same experience. I cant see where this dude is coming from. BCD is the first person I ever heard telling people to buy crap optics because they are going to get destroyed anyways. I've been hunting since I was 12, I hunt hard in all kinds of weather. I have yet had one of my Zeiss or Leupolds take a crap on me. I could care less about resale value, I want something that is not going to let me down when its time to make the shot.
