got an f34 contour barrel blank i'd like to fit to my savage. how easy would this be? would think less than most barrel jobs but wanted some input from guys who have done this. bought a savage 111 on clearance not long ago and wanted to end up with a .257 roberts- basically an ER shaw rifle- for half price.

Is the barrel threaded for a different action already? If it is more than likely you'll have to cut off the treaded part, turn down the shank and hope it is long enough to look decent after the nut is tightened down. Or that there is enough shank left to go nut-less like the ER Shaw rifle. Then you'll have to recut the chamber to .257 Roberts.
IMO if you can't do the work yourself then you'll be better off buying a new pre-fit barrel.

This is an easy job to do. Either with the Savage nut our fit like a Remington. No big deal either way.

Dustylongshot (Earl Hickman) ROCKS on these nutless Savage actions. Fantastic work done quickly and at a great price. You simply will not be less than thrilled by every aspect of his work.
He's done two Savages for me and on the last one he worked with me to decide how I wanted it throated and then ordered a brand new reamer incorporating my specs.
