The way that some of our BEST songwriters (and artists) were "regulated" over the early and mid-span of the "Radio Age" is truly pathetic.
I grew up in a town where the Mafia (note that I've capitalized that) actually decided whose songs would be on the juke boxes, ot not.

I'd like a nickel for every time I ran into Willie,Jimmy Vaughn,etc. in Whole Foods @ 6th + Lamar.

I "grew up" in Nawlin's,....."Home of the Blues".
Music wasn't something that one did between other pastimes there.
OTHER PASTIMES were "done" between musical times.
I've known, and blinked eyes in smoke filled joints (while firing up another Camel of my own) with a compendium of the "Greats".
Gotta' tell ya',......this here place has "Poets that don't know it", and some GREAT songwriters, lurking in the wings, or pissing on liberal cheerios when the mood suits em'.
