I've seen several posts looking for "face to face" exchange only. Assuming we are both living in the same state, does this mean I give you my $ for your gun without having to do the FFL paper work at a gun dealers? Is this fairly common? Thanks!

You are correct in your assumption. There are "free" states where this casual transaction is still legal. There are also states where this is illegal and can get you in a lot of hot water. Simply check with your state DOJ to check the requirements for person to person transfers.

This is the reason I wish of us would put the state in the bio.
Makes it real fast and easy to see if you can make a easy transfer.

This is a new one for me. I know what face to face meant but are there states where you can not legally sell from one private individual to another without using a FFL dealer?
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.

Indiana you can have a booth at a gun show full of privatly owned guns....no paper work.

Face to Face in Pennsylvania is just that. A person can sell a long gun person to person, with no paperwork. But .......If I purchase a rifle off of someone on this site, it must be transfered through an FFL. Don

in illinois you are required to keepa copy the other partys valid foid card number for 10 years.
