Just wondering .....

With the 7mm SAUM being one of those cases that need to seat a loooong bullet DEEP to reach correct COL with that cartridge ....

How well does the 7 Rem SAUM handle 160 grainers?

I don't like shooting the lightest bullet at the fastest velocity in a given caliber, so 140's aren't high on my list in .284.

If selecting ONE LOAD for the 7 SAUM to hunt everything, I'd likely settle on 160 accubonds if not 160 partitions.

Gaminals would [likely] be mulies, whitetails, elk and the ocassional bbear, or shiras moose. cool

THANKS

160 accubonds andb162 amax's flew to identical points of impact out to 450 yards with my old SAUM. Both has 61.5 grains of RL22 if I recall correctly and shot around 2900-2950???

160 partitions shoot the best out of mine. Max load of H-1000 3012 f.p.s.

Never got 160s to shoot to my liking in the factory tube, but everything else more than made up for it.

You might want to take a look at the 150 NBT. They shoot ridiculously well and are plenty tough for anything you're going to send them into.

Never had an issue loading any bullet up to 162. The 162 Amax is my first choice bullet and shoot it almost exclusively out of my Shamwow.

Most excellent Gentlemen! THANK YOU.

All very positive (and successful). wink

Right now my inquiry is exploratory, was looking for some brass if it became available for a good deal in my travels, along with [perhaps] the rifle? whistle

Usually been quite happy with the .308, .3006, .280 choices. grin

When I got my Model Seven I picked up a few boxes of Remington factory ammo with 160 partitions. This rifle likes them so well that I typically use three or less rounds a year. One to check cold barrel zero and one or two on critters. I also bought dies, but at this rate it'll be 8 more years before I need to handload and if I do it will be either partitions or accubonds in 160gr for sure.

I've got the Rem. Model 7 Stainless in SAUM, also.
I couldn't find any brass when I first bought mine, so I bought a couple boxes of the Remington Factory Ammo loaded with the 160 Partitions to sight it in & shoot up for brass.
My rifle shoots 1/2" 5- shot 100 yard groups with the Factory ammo! So I see no need to reload, now. It's one of the most accurate out of the box Remington's I've ever owned. If you want to shoot 160gr bullets, I think the Partitions are hard to beat. And I've killed a couple of 400lb feral hogs out to 375 yards grave yard dead with that load. DRT
