Anyone else sporting the stick and string during the Colorado ML season? We didn't draw ML tags but to our surprise did get our 2nd choice Archery tags. We are pretty excited (other than wearing orange).
I've upgraded bow's and dad has a crossbow exception. Hoping the moon isn't too hard on us during that time.

We have bow hunted during ML season for 3 years. Was drawn last year for the ML tag, but back to bow again this year. This will be our 5th year and I have been lucky enough to shoot at and miss a cow, 5x5 and shoulder shoot a 4x4. Last year took a great 6x6 with the ML. My buddy took a 6x6 the first year with his bow. Hoping to bring one down with my bow this year and I will take a bull or cow....My wife and I are loving Elk meat !
The full moon that week could make it harder, just have to see how it goes. We plan on hunting a few days before ML also which is going into the full moon. I am more worried about it being bone freaking dry and hot than the moon phase right now.

There are no bad days hunting elk, some are just better.

Just FYI, it's not a requirement for archers to wear orange during the ML season.

Or people not wanting to be shot by a .54 maxiball.

Taz I'll take my chances.
we've hunted the ML season our last two trips. I hunted Idaho year before last. Looking forward to getting back into this area. We didn't get into any hunters on our last trip. Moon hit us the same on our last trip it slowed things for about 3 days then picked back up.

Or people not wanting to be shot by a .54 maxiball. Bowhunters can only be taken with .50 caliber projectiles during the special early muzzleloader season......

Muzzle loaders ain't no big deal, it's the rifle bear that bow hunters need to worry about.

He's referring to the fact that there will be some hunters with rifle bear tags in the woods at the same time as the archery and ML folks. We have usually 10-12 guys in our group every year. Some have ML tags and some have archery tags every year. Never had a problem. I've got a ML bear tag this year, two guys have archery bear tags, and the rest are archery elk. Good luck on your trip.

Thanks Ryan I did miss that. We've had a large bear frequent this area in the past but I haven't laid eyes on him my dad had a close encounter.
Good luck to you guys too, I'm getting fired up.

I think the hunting is better for archers after muzzleload season is over...the elk are a bit more active then. Season is open for a week after.
You see in this world, there's two kinds of people my friend; those with loaded guns, and those who dig. You dig.

I agree Larry! We couldn't hit that week this year but still wanted to go. We had great encounters on our last ML season so we're hoping for the best.
