The judge was informed that the defense planned to wrap up today, so by informing him and directly asking him, he cannot bring a failure of knowledge of his right to testify as a potential point of appeal.

She can do it but it is traditional to ask that question after all the evidence has been presented. She will need to ask him again at the end.
What she was doing was trying to move the case along and get it over with. She is pushing for the finish of this trial.

That being said - she has now asked him twice, the second time it seemed like she was pressuring him and she drilled West when he objected.

Judge just questioned Z whether he has decided to testify.
West objected repeatedly to the judge directly questioning and PUSHING for an answer.

Which further goes to show you that Zimmerman does NOT need to take the stand. The judge and the state want a crack at him so they may trip him up to squeek out a conviction. This appears to be Zimmerman's trial to lose because he has the upper hand at the moment.

I'm no Lawyer , but i don't think she does, if convicted he may have grounds for a mistrial

It's the burden of the prosecution to make their case without the defendant's assistance. Why give them a gift if they're trying to put you in jail?
