What is it with Brux barrels? Every one I've had seems to be an awful tight fit for the reamer pilot compared to the others.. Or am I just unlucky?

I had a brux 338 that was pretty tight but have not really noticed or do not recall any others being tight. Not going to tell you about my embarrassing experience with that 338 barrel on the open forum.

Lee, I have only chambered one and it was a little tighter than most other 308 barrels. It measured .2989 with my Deltronic pins. I like them around .3000.

Yeah, last one before this I had to drop down to a pilot .001 under to get it in the bore.. I'm beginning to be a bit wary of Brux barrels.. And I've got three to go...

I sure wouldn't want to do them for an unknown customer. My Brother in Law has this one in 308 and with the loads a couple grains lower, it shoots fine. Trouble is we have too many speed demons out there. I know a couple guys that start at 10% over max on a new barrel. I would not do work for them if I did work for the public.

In all my instances - they're supplied by the customer.. Got no choice for now.. But I may begin to caution a few others who are considering Brux barrels. At the same time, to be fair to Brux, I should call them and have a confab re: these issues and get their feedback before I do anything..

Tight is OK. Obermeyers run even tighter. Not an issue, just need the right pilot. As a gun builder, I got a kajillion pilots, hence no money

I am not a gun builder for any body and I also have a kajillion pilots. My Obermyer has a .2999 bore. It depends on what you want when you order. Take Kreiger for instance, and others, will ask you if you want a .236 or .237 when you order a 6mm barrel. You just adapt. If you ever chambered any of the old Blackstar-Lothar Walther barrels you might get a .303 size 308 barrel.

Clay Spencers barrels have ran a little tight as well, but no probs at all. They shot great at 1k yrds.

Interesting. I'm getting a new Brux barrel back from the smith any day now, chambered in 6mm Remington. I don't have any tools to check bore diameter but I'll sure start low and pay close attention to the chronograph readings as I work up loads.
Now that you mention it I'll ask him about his experience with the chambering reamer.
Gunnery, gunnery, gunnery. Hit the target, all else is twaddle!

Tight bore sized barrels do NOT cause a pressure issue. As stated above, work up your load and find the sweet spot.
