Howdy fellas,
I was hoping someone here may be able to help me out with the scope and ring combo I'm going to put on a 308 MX with open sites. I'm planning on mounting a Leupold VX3 1.5-5 (these scopes have a straight tube and no bell in front). I'm going to use leupold quick release bases and rings. My question is can I go with low rings on this combo or do I need to stick with mediums? Thanks for any help.

Not exactly the same setup, I have a Marlin XLR in 45-70 with a Weaver Classic 1-3 scope. Straight tube no bell.
With a Leupold 1 piece base and medium rings it's a little tall.
.375" base thickness.
.642" between barrel and bottom of the scope.
It puts my eye higher than I like so my cheek is a little too high on the stock. Higher than with sights for sure.
I need to go with "low" rings.

I'm not sure how tall the Q.D. bases are, if they are shorter so you can still see the sights when the scope is off?
Nice cartridge choice,Good luck with your setup!
Talley I just ordered these.

Thanks Colodog. It sounds like I'm probably gonna be good with the low rings too. Should be a very similar setup. I've got got a Talley setup on one of my rifles too. Nice stuff.

Low rings will work perfectly. Awesome set-up, by the way.
