I was looking at some volacities of the 375 Ruger with a 300 g bullet {2810} to the 375 H&H {2736}! Always imitated but never duplicated! I have pushed a 300 bullet 2800 out of Brno 602, so whats the deal with the ruger?

A lot of velocities are measured from a 24 or 26 inch barrel. Especially in reloading books or on the back of the shell boxes. The Ruger usually has a 20 inch barrel. You can looses 50 ft per inch in velocity with shorter barrels. With a 20 inch barrel compared to a 24 inch you could be 200 to 250 fps slower. Are you using the same length barrel the reloading manual is using? Are the barrels on the rifles you are shooting the same length?

so whats the deal with the ruger? I don't have to modify the magazine to accept the cartridge on a l61r action.

I owned multipule 375 rugers in 20" and 23" barrels and could never get them to up to their published velocities without having a sticky bolt (this while using the published loads in the hornady manual). I also couldn't get them to match the 375 h&h velocities out of a 24 inch barrel. other than that, it's a good cartridge for a 30-06 length action
