I shoot mostly 70gr and 75gr bullets in a 6mm-284 and have decided to give the Nosler 55gr Ballistic Tip a whirl. Does anyone have some info using IMR,Alliant or Hodgdon powders?

..........I suppose it's time to get the new Nosler #5, I think my #3 is a little outdated, AA

I've only gone down to 68s in mine. 1x10 twist. H4831 was the fastest and most accurate. 3800+ and in the 3s.mike

Accurate Reloading has a page on the 6-284. Here's the link.
They have data for the 55 grain using Varget.

I'll bet you can get some impressive velocities with the 55 in the 6mm-284!

I'd sure be interested in hearing about it.

Whatever you are willing to put up with, is exactly what you will have.

When your ship comes in. ... make sure you are willing to unload it.

PAYPAL, sucks and I will never use them again. I recommend you do the same.

Well.....I got around to loading a few 55's up. I tried some Varget behind the Noslers and used a 210 to spark em up. I only worked up to 53.0 grs so far. The groups are'nt that bad but I hope to tweak them some. With my limited experiences with Varget, it hasnt set the world a fire with the velocities. Here is a pic of the best group and fastest velocity I have had with this combo.
Thanks for your input fellas..........AA

Evening AA >> Sounds like ya need to throw more coals on the fire. Or moly those BT's up. Or load up some 55 gr. Ballistic SilverTips. Something needs to be done. Got my .243 pushing the 55 gr. BST's just a shade over 4220 fps from the 26" factory barrel of my Ruger VT and using Varget. Accuracy's 3/8" or so. 6mm-284 should be able to improve on that by a good bit. More along the lines of Marks 6mm-06 and its 4400 fps. Good luck to ya. Chat with ya later. >> klallen

Can't speak to the 55gr btip in a 6mm284, but have seen what effect they have on woodchucks, when fired from a "standard" 6mm Rem. varminter. Pretty much makes a mess of 'em.
One of my buds had a 6mm-06 that didn't quite favor the 55gr btips but did a superb job with the 80gr variety. Tore up varmnts almost as bad as the 55gr.

If three or more people think you're a dimwit, chances are at least one of them is right.
