I like that gobbling roost mount. If I ever get a double beard, I'll get it mounted like that. Here's a flying mount.

How long is that beard in the middle? Longest we have measured is 12.5 (taxidermist was amazed!).
I make a necklace out of some spurs, but quit keeping the smaller beards.

The 2 in the middle are right around 11" the winters and ice here in NY do a number on beards!

Can't imagine roosting on a limb in ice and snow. I snuggle with the a/c about 72.
My largest turkey ever had a brown "stain" about half way down the beard. Only turkey I have held that had that.
Great photos. I have held off "stuffing" a turkey because it is so big and they seldom look as good as the moment when shot. Mostly I am very tight with my hunting budget!

The longest beard of mine (the one in the middle) is 11 3/8's It took second in that years long beard contest getting beat out by a beard with one "hair" that was 1/8 th inch longer.

The turkey needs long legs to have a long beard. They just drag the ground and keep them worn down once they reach about ten inches.

Those two funny looking beards came off of some rather nasty fellows that wanted to share my turkey calling set up. They cost me a new pair of BVD's too.

I'm assuming standard turkey loads work on them too? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
