Has anyone on here removed the rear sight from a Shield? I am trying to install an Apex Tactical action kit and removal of the sight is necessary. I intend to replace it with an XS Express rear/Big Dot front.

I can not get the rear sight to move, period. The set screw has been removed completely and even applied heat trying to break it loose. No luck.

Any help will be appreciated.

BTW, I have installed a kit on an M&P 45 and drifted the sight out easily.

If you are using a punch take a soldering iron and heat it to soften the lock tight and move it from left to right . it should come out

A member on another forum ruined his Shield slide trying to remover the rear sight.

There have been various methods listed, but one that several mentioned that worked with stubborn rear sights, was to freeze the slide.

They suggest the loctite leaches out from the screw to under the slide. I have a set of AmeriGlo sights ordered for mine, but I alo have a sight pusher.

regular M&P pusher won't work . Need a Universal Pusher that will adapt to different Slide Thickness . It only took me a few min's to remove the factory sights from my Shield . Replaced with Tritium Big Dot and Safari V Rear

That's exactly the sights I want to put on mine. I have the slide in the freezer right now and plan to try it again tomorrow.

I hate to buy a pusher for one project, but I may have to.

I built my own sight pusher. Worked on my Shield, M&P's, Glocks, XD's. I got about $15 into it.

This is the one i have and used to change the sights on my Shield. Heat the sight with the Soldering Iron and it will come right out with this pusher. L TO R
