I just picked up a Montana in 7mm08! I can't wait to scope it up and get to the range. With any luck it will shoot like my others, and when it does my other kimbers will go to the classifieds; 7mm08 classic and 30.06 Montana. To me this rifle does what I was looking for in the first two. Thanks to cal74 for the tip on where one was lurking.

Did you get SA's? If so, I think you'll be highly satisfied.

You got that one at shedhorn?
I replace valve cover gaskets every 50K, if they don't need them sooner...

Nice snag, the real lotto Kimber is a 223 Montana though. Thinking that will be my mission in 2014.

I knew where there were two less than 15 miles from one another in the last few months, one got sold this past month and I'm hoping the other one lasts another month or two when I can bring it home with me.

I have an older one, that I bought used. Got serious about working with mine over the past couple of weekends, since it will go to the desert this fall. Carefully assembled some handloads with 120 BT's and Big Game. First group, I kid you not, was 4 inches. Next one about 1.5, the next 1", and the last one was: 3 in one hole, about 3/8". I've been questioning my technique, but then pulled it down and found no bedding between stock & action - none, not even a dollop of goo that some mfrs use. There are bright spots in the metal where it's been shifting around in the stock. Hopefully bedding will cure its ills.

Attached a 2.5X8 Leupy and took it to the range. It's a real keeper in the accuracy department and had been shot very little. I'd been looking for over a year.
It's official. I missed the selfie deadline so I'm Maser's sock puppet because rene and the Polish half of the fubar twins have decided that I am.

Made it to the range this morning and with this weather if feel like fall. (55 degrees when I started shooting) The first group on paper went into an 1.5" not to bad for new rifle. I shot several groups with my new Montana 7mm08 along with a couple of other guns just to give it a chance to cool. I really like this gun and feel like the recoil is no worse than my 84M 7mm08 at almost a 1# lighter. I'm liking this gun even better when I shot my last 3 shoot group. This is just the load that shot well in my 84M and I have a few other powders to try yet. I'm now 3 for 3 on Kimbers that shot like this from the factory. There are enough stories out there that I believe some of the old guns were roulettte in the accuracy department. From my experience however they have certainly gotten it together. (post August 2011)

Glad you are liking yours BB. I'm in the middle of a trade for one. Will be the first Montana I will have owned. Looking forward to it.
