I bought my son(7)a savage cub bolt action and it has the laminated thumbhole stock. My wife decided to try it and now she wants a 22lr.
She wants a thumbhole stock lightweight carbine bolt action 22lr with more than 1 shot.If anyone has a suggestion please let me know as I'd love to get my wife in on the fun even if it diminishes my 22LR supply:)

Thanks, Dan

Some years ago I put my 10-22T barreled action into a thumbhole stock and liked it. Since then I gotten Boyds Gunstock Industries, Inc (605)995-5011 thumbhole stocks for two of my other rifles. If you have an other 22 RF rifle ,changing the stock could be a lower cost option.

Thanks for the info and ideas fellas. I've been looking at lightweight 22's with tapered barrels and trying to find thumbhole stocks for them...Seems like many are avail for bull barrel rifles but not for tapered...The search continues.

This is what I've had on one of my 1022s for several years. Ain't purty, but it's very functional. I see they now list it as discontinued?

Most of the wooden stock producers will sell a stock with a "minimum" barrel channel cut out and you can fit it yourself to your barrel. Usually it is just a 1/2" router cut down the centerline of the stock. Might be another option.

i put a lightweight Majestic Arms barrel on my wife's purple thumbhole 10/22; at first it had a spiral fluted Shaw bull, but that one was too heavy.

we went with the new alum shrouded tube on it & shaved 1.5# off the weight, and but is still a .920 bull to fit the stock inletting for straight bulls.

Butler Creek, TacSol, Majestic, and a few others have made lightweight .920 bulls that don't add poundage.

would she be opposed to an autoloader if it made the weight she was after?
