Perhaps your type of post is what I am talking about. How much good did you accomplish? If I want to send you a gift what business is it to anyone else? You are doing great, please contribute more of your knowledge for all to see. -- no

need one, you prove my point BITTER.And before you criticize my "type of post" run a search and read some from some of the other areas.Maybe I'm mislead but I thought I was in the right section for these kind of postings.

I have read this thread from the beginning and I can sympatize with nearly everyone but I have to agree that change is inevitable. No, I don't always like it but I have tried to learn that there are some things I can't change. If I let it bother me too much, it makes me very miserable and no doubt hard for others to be around me. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone here, just making an observation about myself.

I live in a valley that once was a cattleman's paradise. I always look forward to this time of year because calves are dropping on the various ranches and nothing is prettier to me than young calves running around kicking up their heels and generally making life a trial for their mothers who try their best to keep track of them. A month or so will be branding time and a day I look forward to every year. I love spending the day working pretty hard, or at least as hard as my 62 years allow me, to get all the cows and calves ready for their trip to summer pasture. But, in the past few years there has been a big influx of people move into this valley and rooftops are spreading out everywhere, even on some land that used to have ranches with cattle and horses on them. This means there are now less cattle than there used to be. Many folks who live in these new houses wouldn't know a cow from a bull and further more don't really care to know. I don't like it, but if I am going to continue to live here I best make the best of it and try to enjoy what is still there. I realize I can't change what is happening so I am just trying to adapt. It appears to me that something like that is probably happening on this forum. Just like I can't say the old way in the valley here was right, just because I enjoyed it more, I don't recon any one person can say what is right for this forum. I do know that no one will ever get everyone to agree so probably the next best thing is to co-exist and be happy for what is still the same as it used to be. I truly believe that there are some things that are the same as they used to be, but with so many more people it may be harder to find them.

This is all my opinion, but I really do think there is a lot here for a lot of different people if it is sought out. I know I am still impressed by the amount of knowledge here and enjoy it a lot. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

It begins as ; "Remember thou thy Creat*r in the days of thy youth, O' man". From there it explains how we age, lose taste, and take no pleasure in things. Perhaps B'sWoman would post it for us all to read.
The verse you're referencing is Ecclesiastes 12:1: Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, "I find no pleasure in them" -- before the sun and the light and the moon and the stars grow dark, and the clouds return after the rain..."

It goes on for quite a few more lines, but it's more of the same.

Need One is mourning the loss of something that he held very dear. He has lost other things in his life that he once held dear as well. That's a burden. IMHO, we all need to reach out to him with love and understanding. He can push my buttons, too... but that's irrelevent. Elsewhere in the Bible it says to love your neighbor as yourself. It doesn't say to love your neighbor as long as he says nice things about you and shares your opinion on things. It's easy to love people who are just like us. It's not so easy to love the ones who are different... and especially so when they criticize us and do it in what we perceive to be a mean-spirited way.

I haven't mastered this yet myself, but I keep working on it. I'm still a work in progress...

Idared, great post, with thought, not offensive, understandable. Seems like any post trying to impart thoughts gets construed by some who want to keep the smoke boiling from the fire. --- Good to see a breath of fresh air. Probably be best just to take a walk in the woods until they get tired of feeding the fire. -- no

Well, looking at the top 15 or so topics on the hunters campfire, it looks like maybe one of them has anything to do with guns, hunting, or the outdoors.

Anyone know where E4E or Talker hang out

E4E is still here, usually in the AR15 Rifles forum.

I think he can tell you about Talker.

I miss e4e but talker passed away a while back.

Thanks Mac, I am not throwing my log in the fire. Just not nearly as quick to post on things as I used to be.
Change and adapt, know what I mean?

One good thing about this thread is that you are having civil give and take with posters. Nice to see you in the mix need one.

I hope you take the time to post a story about horseback camping/hunting at 10K in a blizzard. I think it'd be interesting reading.

well, i sure didn't know this site started as a rocky mountain hunting thing ...
it's a lot more versatile, sorta like a bunch of the members here ...
but there sure ain't nothing wrong with a little crustiness every now and then, whether it's in the rockies or the appalachians or the brooks range.

NO,

For what it's worth, in my book you've earned the right to be a salty ol' bastid. Keep givin' folks heck - some of them are still a might too delicate.
