Add me to the 270 Roy user list. I stay with 150's in this round. Right now I am using 150 Speer and Sierra loads but have some Nosler PT's waiting in the wings. I would avoid 130 conventional cup and core in this round, I found them too destructive even in the standard 270 Win, the Roy would only make matters worse.
I started using 140 Hornady Interlocks in my 270 Win after the messes the 130's left and was quite pleased, never tried them in the Roy.

http://www.ballisticstudies.com/Knowledgebase/.270+Weatherby+Magnum.html article maybe, has more info than you want. .270 Wby gives high velocity, compared with milder calibers, which can cause problems with hits at shorter ranges. Sturdy bullets, such as Barnes TSX, Nosler Partition, and bonded core types, plus using the 150-gr could help to avoid problems. .270 Wby gives 130-gr bullets about 3400 fps and 150-gr about 3200 fps. .270 Win gives 130-gr about 3100 fps and 150-gr about 2900 fps. The Wby gives about 300 fps more with both bullet weights. Recoil is said to be not too bad, considering the high performance.

I shot an Alabama whitetail doe w/ one. That was probably the most damage I have seen. I was about 40ish yds away and used a 130gr softpoint. Hit it in the ribs and the bone flew into the opposite shoulder. That was the only deer I shot w/ it due to the damage. Way too much for me.

It was so much like a 7 mag I sold it.
The 280 Remington is overbore.

Well I shoot a 7mm RM a ballistic twin of the 270 Weatherby, I hunt white tails. I can tell you that 150 gr SP load would work just fine, for up close Neck shoot them. I been launching 150 gr 7mm bullets out of my Blaser for 7 seasons now. I have not notice any more meat damage that with some of the other cartridges I killed game with.

That is what I use for my "beanfield gun". Got a Ruger No.1B with a Nikon Monarch 4x12x40 on it. The rifle is capable of killing deer farther than I am. Stocked up on Winchester 140g Silver Tip Boat Tails and load at about 3300 fps. = very flat shooting round.
