Already tried the 7828ssc without much luck. Hoping R25 or H1000 might do the trick. Anyone have any input with the 110's and these two powders?
Thanks

No, I found IMR-7828 (not ssc) worked best in mine with the 110 gr Accubonds and 115 gr TSX. I am working with Ramshot Magnum now and it is showing promise. H1000 didn't work for me and I did not try R-25.

I used to use RL-25 but when RL-33 came along I gave it a try.
Custom throated (shorter) Pacific tool and gauge reamer 28" SS Lilja 3 groove barrel moly coated 110 accubond .015" off rifling.
Original load 75.5 gr of RL-25 vel 3615 fps
RL-33 starting load 76 gr for vel of 3318 jumped to 80 gr 3432 fps 81 gr 3525 82 gr 3559 83 3625 which slightly faster than old load with RL-25 83.5 3674 fps shot well two shots were same velocity 84 gr 3704 fps shot well two shots were same velocity 84.5 gr 3735 this is max case capacity with drop tube
Your results may vary. Please work up from 80-81 grs.

WOW... Smoking loads. What kinda groups were you getting and were there any accuracy nodes along the way? DF

I faced challenges getting my Roy to respond to 7828SSC w/ that bullet until I went above max published numbers. Then groups tightened up considerably w/o signs of excess pressure.

Azshooter, 84.5 gr 3735 this is max case capacity with drop tube You mention a drop tube. The following device rendered the drop tube obsolete for me. You can see the white round thing on the left has dark splotches. Those are the places where I held the cases with the funnel still in place to prevent the powder from flying all over the place. I picked it up for about $5 at a yard sale.

The foot massage machine is a great idea.
As for the smoking loads in that 257 Roy:
It has approx. 750 rounds through it and the view using a bore scope is horrific. The barrel became so worn that it began to chew up 115 VLDs. I had to make the switch to accubonds because they hold together after the trip down this barrel.
I believe the clearances are a bit loose for the first foot or so of barrel helping mitigate pressure. Moly and a 3 groove also add to this. Finally add the longer burning curve RL-33 and it screams.
Dirt farmer: I cannot remember much about this load I switched to 110 accubonds back in 2011. Used RL-25 back then When RL-33 came out switched. 83 gr shot well with vel of 3630 fps. So did 84 grs as did 84.5 grs. That is all I can tell you. I keep several targets with groups and POI for reference and the max load with velocity of 3725 shot 8 into a ragged 1/2" hole at 100. More importantly it also shot well at 500M at the range where I check comeups.

NULA .257B's barrel was completely toasted at 1100 rounds using R25 and 110 Ab or 100 TSX. By toasted I mean no rifling at all for about 4" then another 12-14" of pitted burnt metal and finally more or less normal. The rifle was not shot fast and was cleaned carefully. Not complaining, just the price for high performance. BTW it was also having some bullets disappear in flight. I guess from the rough throat damaging the jackets. Melvin rebarreled it to .264 win mag and I am picking it up tomorrow. Prolly use 140's at a somewhat lower velocity than the 110's in the Roy. R25 is still the choosen powder. The new tube is a lilija vs the Douglas tube in .257 Roy. lefty C

This thread inspired me to revisit the Accubond in my .257... Loaded it with R22 (As I dont think I did that at first) Guess we'll see how that goes.
