Title says it all, I have one in the works thats about 8 1/4 lbs with a #3 Brux and a Mcmillan Classic swirly stock. Plan to hunt deer with it among other things. Carry and sit. What say you?

Edited to ADD: with the 140 amax's and VLD's that I plan on shooting would you just use the SAMMI reamer and throat or lengthen the throat a little so these bullets aren't so deep in the case. I'm using a 700 long action ADL box.

Thanks as always.

Mine is 30" at 12.5 lbs. Just loaded some 160gr Woodleigh PPSN bullets with 71gr of H750 that a friend gave me. Will be testing soon. Old Hodgdon book says this load with the Hornady 160gr round nose will hit 3067fps in a 26" barrel. This could be a real smoker. This H570 is hard to find and was less than $2.00 a can when purchased.

two of my .264s. bottom rifle here is M700/26" Brux 1:8" Rem. sporter contour/McMillan Classic ADL/6X42 M1/Jewell. it's .264 and weighs 8# 5 oz. as pictured.

don't obcess over getting every last fps. I got a pard that has a .264 Featherweight with 22" barrel and he kills stuff with it. that said, I spec my .264s with 26" barrels. I do think you'll be a little over your weight estimate with the #3.

my reamer is cut to allow 142 SMKs to kiss at 3.3"

Just had a 264 bbl installed by PN w/o any special throating requested. Wished I'd gone with a longer throat. Can't go past 3.20" before I hit the lands. This is a BDL box that's 3.40" If doing it again, I'd request 0.10" longer-than-SAAMI

Mine has the old Winchester 2 diameter throat, whatever you do don't do that. I have to seat 140 grain BT's way down in the case to get them off the lands. I haven't looked at the SAAMI print so I don't have a clue what the standard is.

To accomodate the original "stepped" two-diameter 264 bullet I reckon.

Visited Jim Bordens shop today to speak with him and drop off parts. To say he did me right would be an understatement. He will be throating to the 140 Berger Hunting VLD to just fit magazine requirements of the 700 Long action box.

He will also be making me a little gizmo with the cutoff shank to measure distance to the lands and to measure headspace. I will check back with some measurements when its done. Thanks again.
