Have several 'dream rifles' in the safe right now. All wonderfully re-worked and tuned Mausers of one sort or another including a Len Brownell in 7mm Mashburn super (just sold it last night) and a 416 Rigby that looks as though it just came out of the shop of one John Rigby and co. ltd. in the 1920's.

All of them are on gunbroker as I type with just a few days left on each auction. Probably going to keep only my FN Supreme in 257WBY and my highly tweaked custom stocked 1917 Enfield in a 340 wildcat that is essentially an 8mm RemMag necked up to take 338 bullets. Good solid CRF rifles that push either a 100gr TTSX out the snout at 3600 or a bit more or a 225gr TTSX at 3100 will cover all bets for me going forward.

LOVE God, LOVE your family, LOVE your country, LIKE guns and sports.

......a stainless 700 in an Edge with a quality barrel, no more that .620" at 22". Give it a nice bedding job and throw in a Walker, Timney or RB to pull. Top it off with Talley LW low's, a VX3 2.5 - 8 and a M1 elevation turret.

Chambering doesn't matter -- but I'd prefer a 223, 243, 260, 7-08 or 308. That should take care of everything I'm going to do in NA.

There's no place for sensibility here, SAS. whistle

How's that .243? Ready to sell it yet? Grins...

Tough question but would need a well figured AAA Walnut worked to slim down and handle like a grouse gun in 280 rem weighing in about 7 lbs all up with a 2.5x8 Leupold on it. Going with nice walnut, would need the rifle to be blued and why not CFR

Kinda like a Biesen Rifle, probably over the 10k now grin

I've more than a few rifles,so I'll leave the dreaming to them that are forced to.(grin)

Would like to see an OEM 1-8" Montucky 223 and 22-250,along with a 9" 243 and a Montucky Rimfire, running the gamut from 22LR to the new Winny 17.

Hold the fluff.

I don't always shoot Mausers, but when I do...I prefer VZ-24s.

A Dakota 76 in 7mm Dakota. Happened to see one in Cabela's Gun Library yesterday. If only I weren't shipping off the daughter to college for pre-med on Friday. Damn responsibilities.

Didn't see the under $1K disclaimer. For that range I'm set but, I still want a custom order Dakota.

243 -

Well it's NOT a 243. grin grin

Seriously, I have HAD so many 'dream' rifles and some were 'nightmares'. mad

I NO LONGER dream or long for some particular rifle. The 'closest' I come is; I would really LIKE a .284 Win. It's the cartridge, rebated rim, short/fat thing, not any particular brand of rifle.

To qualify, I'm 63 y/o and have been at this a long time. I've HAD so many rifles and ALL the cartridges I'm interested in EXCEPT the 284 W. It's unique to me.

PS: I am very happy to have the rifles/cartridges that I do and they meet ANY need I'm likely to encounter. smile

I found a used Kimber 300WSM in Select Grade for a great price and it looks brand new. I wouldn't want anything better.

I'll be all alone on this: A pre-Garcia, Bofors Finnwolf with a carbine length 20" barrel, in a straight comb, McMillan Edge style stock, similar to a Model 7 Custom Shop profile and bedded for the lever action & clip!!!!!

Dream rifle only.
