A man is willing to trade me his LNIB Ruger Super Redhawk 44 mag. stainless steel 9 1/2" barrel with new Simmons scope which I don't care for, for my HK USP 45 blued, generic box only. I crave the SRH more than the USP and they are priced about the same. Thanks for any opinions.

Something you don't want anymore for something you want? What is the question?

Sounds good to me. Only advice I could give is to meet up and you both shoot them if at all possible. Just make sure everything is working properly and it might prevent him from nagging to trade back as well.

Do you have more use for the Redhawk than you do for the HK? If so, go for it JMO
I could wish a lot of things on my worst enemy but neuropathy ain't one of them.

I live by the rule never trade or sell a firearm (as long as it is reliable). In the past I've got rid of firearms I thought I no longer wanted only to end up wanting that model again, and in my experience the craftsmanship has suffered a decline by the time I get my hands on one again.

I'm in the camp of "If you want the SRH, why not??"
They are two totally different pistols with two totally different intended purposes, but both can be enjoyable.
If you are a handloader, the SRH offers possibilities that allow you to extend it's performance, and besides, it's a damn fine hunting handgun.

Life is too short not to have the gun you want.
