This novel follows Riley County Sheriff James "Cactus" Early as he chases a bank robber and investigates a murder. The 1940's west is nicely recreated in a smooth flowing narrative with plenty of folksy dialogue.
This was my grandfather's west that I saw so briefly as a child. The book deserves a read if you enjoy our "old" west.
