They are working one what we call friendly pelts. They are wool that felted on the sheep and is of no use and normally thrown away. Three years ago my wife got the idea to wash one and comb it out. It worked and they sell out every year. The larger pieces make great seat covers but the small ones usually go for crafts. She finished that little piece and held it up to her face. My daughter snapped the picture and the rest is history. Well all except for the part where she wears out two or three good Wagner cast iron skillets on my head if she find out I posted the picture.
