If this is really a SHORT only, it is exceeding rare and the Winchester hounds over at RFC would be baying long and loud.
From all I have read the SHORT roll marking is on the top line and the Long & Long Rifle designations are on the second line, covered by the stock.

Saw one on gunbroker last week... looked a little on the well worn side particularly considering its price was around the $675.00 mark. Looked to have had a winchester model 69 magazine in it. If the price was low and the condition not too bad I would pick it up, play with it and probably turn it... depending on how it shot.

Went back to look at it again today, and it is marked SHORT, LONG,
& LONG RIFLE. Sorry about the false alarm.

The 67 was a single shot. It must have been another model to have a magazine.

Timbo,

You're right ... it was a model 57.
