For Sale:
Kimber 84M Montana 308
Talley LW Lows included
Kimber Montana 257 Roberts barrel, and a Lee 257 Roberts die set

Shot around 1" with 150 Accubonds, previous owner reported 3/4" with 165s.

Bought with sights, but they would not work due to the Kimber's high comb and heavily tapered barrel. A much higher rear sight is necessary, as well as a taller front sight. When I removed the sights, I found the barrel had a few extra holes drilled and tapped. Filler screws would take care of the holes. I can provide info on what sights you will need if you choose to go that route.

Rifle is clean other than mark shown at top of forend, visible in picture of rear sight holes (and the sight holes).

Previous owner of 257 Roberts barrel noted around 100 rounds fired total, shot around 1 inch with tip pressure on the barrel. He sold it because he wanted a different chambering.

I bought the barrel intending to screw into onto this action, but have decided to sell off some rifles and buy an NULA.

$925 shipped CONUS

I will throw in a nearly new RCBS FL 308 die set, and whatever bullets I have around (around a half box of 150 Accubonds).

How hard is it to turn this setup into a switch barrel outfit?

You would have to talk to a smith for sure.

But if the 257 barrel screwed on, headspaced correctly, and the extractor groove lined up ,I would think it would be a quick swap with the proper action wrench and barrel vise.

I like the iron sight idea, and would've set it up with the correct sights if the other barrel hadn't come along. But alas, the call of the NULA is strong, so this rifle must go.

This would be ALOT CHEAPER than the $1400+ I gotta pay in truck tax and tags...but for sure more satisfying. My timing sucks...nice rig with 2 of my favorite cartridges
