My uncle has a knight bolt action muzzleloader and is interested in using BH 209 in it. It uses the red plastic jackets over the primers. Is this doable? Also, will it work on a TK2000 turkey muzzleloader with the pull-cock action?
Thanks Leon

Yes, the 'Extreme' or 'Elite' will handle B209 just fine. I have also shot it in my 'Original' Disc. I limit charges to 120 grains, by volume. You should use a hot primer(CCIM or similar) & be sure to seat the charge firmly.

DONT use it in a TK shotgun!!!!!!
If you mean any Knight DISC based bolt action ML such as Extremes, Elites, and LRHs. Then yes you can. The bare primer conversion is far better though. The red jacket flash channel is kinda small so you really need to keep it cleaned out with a drill bit by HAND.
I think they offer a newer red jacket breach plug that might work better. Its called the "vented" FPJ plug.

I just got off the phone with Knight tech support and they said that BH 209 would work great in the TK2000 if I had the breech plug drilled out to .035. The tech also said that the Disc rifle would work with the Extreme conversion. So I guess it is a go. Just got to find a #65 drill bit now.

The tech is wrong. Call back and ask for Gordy or ask the long time senior smith from Iowa named Sam. Im not sure if Sam from Iowa is still with the new Knight.
Plunger guns and BH209 is a risk. Drilling out the flash hole only increases blowback and a FPJ flying into your face. I know, ive done it and i wont do it again. Ive watched a FPJ smack my face with as little as 80gr. Ive watched the plunger re-cock. Ive watched primers separate the cup from the anvil.
The Extreme conversion for the DISC with the bare primer conversion though is superb!!! The Extreme bare primer conversion is superb!! I was a beta tester for the original Lehigh plugs which Knight now uses.

I will do that next week. Matter of fact I am only 45 minutes from their new location. I just may drive over. And thanks for your concern.

I have the original conversion from Lehigh and it works great with bare primers in my Knight LRH.

The original GenII Lehigh NON FPJ conversions are one of...if not the best breach plugs ever made for BH209 IMO. Only about 20 GenIs were sold and i still have one too. Always flawless with a standard Win209 and only about a .032 flash hole.
I cant say ive tried the ones with the vent liner brazed in place but i was told nothing was changed. You just cant replace the vent.

You will get misfires and hangfires, and if you drill out the flash hole, you will get hot gasses and FPJ's spitting into your face. Even the Knight KRB and KP1 have a hard time with BH209. Stick to 777, Pyrodex or real BP with a plunger rifle, or get a Knight bolt action with the bare primer plug for BH209.

do not use Blackhorn 209 in any of the plunger guns. stick with Triple 7 or any other BP. It will work with any of the bolt guns from Knight. I would order the bare primer system to insure no hang fires. If you have any questions call Knight and ask for Gordy.
