What extended cocking handle is the best for a scoped AR?
Thanks,

I like the BCM gunfighter series. You can get them in different lengths. Rainier also makes a nice one.

I've got the BCM medium and it's just about right. I would maybe get the small if it were strictly a hunting rig.

Big C how do you like that Raptor? I tinkered with one and liked it but was wondering how it was to use it long term.

I like it so far. Just got it a few months ago, and have been out of state working for a couple of months, so haven't got to use it a whole lot yet. It's built like a tank, and gives me plenty to grab on to with my big meat hooks. If they are still in stock, this is the weekend to buy one. Ranier has them on sale for 20 bucks off during Labor Day. Not bad, because they are a bit spendy.

I have the BCM with medium latch on my .223's and .308. I like them much more than the standard latch. The Rainier Raptor looks nice too, I just have no need for ambi controls.

Just wondering but where does the standard CH fail y'all?
I don't knife hand the CH and I mount the scope forward of the CH so I can easily clear it. In all my te spent with the AR I've never had an issue and only seen one that was bent. I can see a gas buster if you're running supressesd but the extended latches puzzle me.

But they also tend to dig into you and catch on things. I might could see a BCM small latch or the PRI (which I have used) but the large latch looks like it could draw blood.
I just drop the gun with the port up to look inside, while gabbing the CH with my left hand. What I see determines what I do next but I ain't got no one shooting at me in the process.

For starters,I mount the scope right in the way.
I suppose I could put a 1-6 IER out on the rail but I am overly fond of 2-7 Leupys with their range dots.
I don't want much more extension than I have but a little would improve things.

The ambidextrous raptor looks like it is worth a try.
Thanks for the help.

I think a cantilever mount like a LaRue, ADM, Burris PEPR, RRA, model one sales, Armalite or even a cheap B square would serve you and the 2-7 well.
But if you just want an extended latch, the BCM is pretty solid.

I'm using a Rainer Rapter on one of mine and a stock (mil-spec ) on the other. I like the Rainer and it looks too cool but I honestly can't see any real advantage to it over stock. The same experience with the BCM gunfighter also. Truth be known. it's hard to out engineer the factory.

TWR, I use mine primarily to give me extra grip for competition. I don't know that it's ever saved me any time, but I tried it out on this latest build and it's definitely nice to have. You won't slip off of it.

I have quickly found out I like the slightly larger one when working with gloves. Before I worked on the coast when cold was 55 degrees and gloves were not worn unless you put on your thin leathers for boxing with someone. Being in the middle of the country now and understanding how bulky warm gloves can be I am learning to appreciate extended controls. The oem safety always worked well for me but I am starting to consider an extension.

Good point, I always wear thin fleece gloves when I hunt. If I had to wear thick gloves, I can see one of the mediums probably.
