Bought a 1981 Ruger 10/22 today and it came equipped with a rather nice Weaver K4-C3 in Weaver rings and bases. Scope has some light surace rust that will probably clean up easily. I cleaned the lenses with a pre-moistened lens cleaning cloth and it looks very bright and clear with standard crosshairs.
Serial number is 2949816. Can anyone tell me when and where this one was made?
I'll post some pictures once I get it cleaned up. I normally take off older scopes like this but I have a feeling this one may be a keeper!
Thanks! WFR

No idea what year it was made, but I've had several K3's and they're great scopes. Tough, too. I had one on a .458 Winchester Magnum and it held up just fine. The only thing they give up to comparable scopes like the M8 Leupold is weather-sealing and a bit of contrast.

Can someone else tell me when it was made or steer me to a link where I can research it further? Thanks! WFR

Here's a picture after I got the rifle cleaned up and put back together. I did not take the scope out of the rings on the off chance that it may be close. Cleaned up pretty good after a few hours of sweat equity.

WFR, I believe the C3 series were made in El Paso in the mid to late 1960's. Personally, I would go ahead & remove the scope from the mount and clean the tube where the rings sit. Chances are rust is there also.
