Yes, I know it's a long shot, but it would be going to a good home and be well taken care of.

Wish I could send you one from Sweden.
These rifles are fairly common and cheap.
I saw one advertised about 4 weeks ago and it would have been the equivalent of about $US 120

If not, here is the link. http://www.simpsonltd.com/index.php?cPath=350_370_371&sort=2a&page=1I've not made any purchases from Simpsons so this is not an endorsement. Just passing along information.

I probably have one, it would unfortunately have the seemingly mandatory side mount holes in it though. I haven't seen one for sale in a while that doesn't anymore. Bore is good, better than what Simpsons is offering now. If interested PM me and I will dig it out.
The kids and I have several, one each plus a spare or two. Love em. Easy to shoot and they really put the hurt on game.

I'd be thinking about buying a fairly common Husqvarna in .30/06 and getting a new barrel. One of the HVA's marketed as a Tradewinds Husky back in the 60's can be had for under $400.

And how much is a re-barrel? Want sights, $$$$. Got a 9,3x57 reamer? Just a few things to consider. Assuming a $400 acquisition cost by the time you buy the barrel, have it threaded, chambered and blued, and add sights you are into it for a grand minimum.

I have one and love it. I'll be deer hunting with it this fall. Hope you can find one as they are "fun guns".

You'd end up with a more modern action, better stock, a new barrel vs one that's 60-70 years old and the chance to have it in 9.3X62. PacNor has 9.3X57 and 9.3X62 reamers and there are no flies on their work. Heck, what decent rifle doesn't cost a grand these days?

Ward, I suppose if the OP wanted a 9,3x62 he would have asked about one. The M46 is perfectly fine with the 96 action in the original chambering. The two on the left are M46's, the third from left is a M146, the 4th from left is an M46A. I have some of the M146's built on the FN 98 action and they just aren't as svelte as the M46. I have also rechambered more than a few M146's into 9,3x62 like this pair. Better stock? How? The M46 is open sight only and the drop on them is perfect for iron sights. The newer Husqvarnas have stocked that are ok for irons but designed more for scope use. As new barrel? What for, if the OLD barrel will still cloverleafs, what's the point? I love custom rifles, make a living building them. But the OP ws looking for a factory M46. I have all teh different Husqvarna models, love em all, I use different models for different shooting situations.

I regret not buying a few more M46 and M146 Husqvarnas when the opportunity was in hand.

I see your point. Model 46's are getting up there in price compared to a few years ago. The 'svelte' aspect is one of the reasons I like the modern HVA action. Sort of a 96 with refinements of a 98 but keeping a trimmer profile.
I've seen several Husqvarna rifles for sale recently after seeing very few over several years. Getting one or two is tempting. The Tradewinds Husky was a bargain new and still is a pretty good deal.
I love your collection of Husqvarnas.

A Cabelas in Colorado seems to have one marked down to $399 from $499. Cabela's I hope the listing is not just an old one that they forgot to delete when they sold the rifle. Since you were so specific in your initial post, I would guess that you are well-informed and that know about the board dedicated to Swedish firearms but others may not so I will post it HERE. Of course Husqvarna is a big part of that, and there is also a sticky thread on handloading the 9.3 x 57. John

Is that a 5000 model on the far right in the group pic?
It's not the destination...

Ward, I agree, those 1600/1640's are fine actions. Nice clean examples are hard to find. You would laugh if you saw my 8x57. Beat to heck, hunted hard, the thumbtacks with moose antlers attest to a dozen moose it has accounted for. Wish I could find some Boar pins to continue documenting its ability. Still drives tacks.
