Okay, I brightened the pic up a bit and trimmed it down to remove some extra carpet space;). Looks like fancy grain on the wood there..

So what cal and what are you going to tell us about it? Looks like a great shooter to me. I like the sentence in the instructions enclosed in the hang tag from 1950 that says " You are now the owner of a carefully designed instrument of precision-A Savage Rifle. The great accuracy of its barrel is the result of long and painstaking experiment."

thanks for posting my pic. it is a 99F in 308 ca. I paid $525. THe only thing the owner did was change the butt plate. He did not have the original.
