I have a 54cal 1:48 twist. I have some sabots for .452 diameter bullets. Can I use .458 bullets without building to much pressure? I use 90gr of 2f.58gscott

Any 300gr .45cal in a 54cal sabot might be a bit long for the 1-48 twist to stabilize. Plus its gunna be mighty tight loading since those sabots are made for a .451-.452 bullet. The MMP 54x45 will be VERY tight and the Harvester 54x45 loads a bit easier.

My bad! I have a 1:38 twist. Brain fart! And I have the MMP sabots. Maybe it will stabilize them? 58gscott

Sounds like a old ThunderHawk 54. Those seem to shoot best with a shorter saboted bullet regardless of caliber or a full bore conical.

I cant say ive ever tried that twist/bullet combination so i cant say for sure if its possible.
