Now that my kid is 20 and has a job, school, firefighting and girlfriends etc, I don't get to line up with him like I did in the old days, but he did tell me all about it.
He bumped this buck out of a draw while hiking to a rocky knob to do some glassing.
The shot was rather uneventful as he dumped him in his tracks at under a hundred yards with his ss Win 70 in 7mm-08 using 140 gr bt's.
This is an old photo of the country where he shot this buck.
My son's has lived the life I yearned for as a kid.
Here's his collection of Northern California Blacktails, not too shabby for a kid in this neck of the woods.

There's a couple of pics I can't find, but what memories, no guides, just father & son hunts, I wouldn't trade these memories for anything!
