Last year at the Blade show I joined the ABS. Always wanting to forge some knives I have started to do a few now after getting the equipment to do it, This is my first forged knife, Thanks to alot of guidance from friend and fellow knifemaker Michael Omachearley.
This knife is hand firged 5160 with a forged in distal taper
Sambar stag handle
304 stainless fittings
copper spacer
hand filed front spacer
full flat grind
The overall length is right at 12" with a 7-1/4" blade from tip to guard
I still need to etch my mark and sharpen this one but I was happy with the way it turned out and wanted to get some pictures before dark.
This knife will be for sale on my table at the Ohio classic knife show in October

willowcreek..I hope she makes it to my table, I'm pretty proud of this one, being my first forged knife and look forward to forging alot more real soon..

Don't tell the other bladesmiths you see at the show that it is your first try at hammering steel into art. They will not like you very much.

Anything brother, but mostly to give extreme pleasure to the owner.


Great job!!! Personally, I would always etch your name before finishing. You can clamp the clip to the tang and not the blade. You will also avoid any future horror stories.
