I've have to wait until 10/26 to carry a 99 for deer. I'll be in GA for a long weekend. Gun opens 11/2 at the camp here. I've only shot 27 deer with a 99 more than half does. I guess thats decent seeing i will be 38 in three weeks. first few with a 336. Hope I can rustle up the pics, still can't find schit since moving in July. Stay tuned

Deer season is opening this coming weekend here so should have photos by 9 am Saturday. whistle wink Lots of rain this last weekend and saw 0 bears in 2 days of hard looking. Been on the track of a bruiser. Carrying 99's all over the mountains already this fall but so far no connections. Did shoot four times real fast with the 99F 358 at two different cougars that came up behind me whilst waiting at a trail for the Volkswagen Bear, but thats a story for another day. blush

I might recommend the 95 grain Federal Fusion. Have heard good reports on deer sized game though I have no first hand experience. I can tell you my "E" groups them up real tight.

Me too, on the 336. It was a learning curve going from the 35 Rem to the 250. With the 336 I always shot them through the front shoulders and took their legs out from under them. They would snow plow for about 30-40 yards and pile up. The first one I shot in the shoulder with the 250 took off. Blew the shoulder to pieces. With a half decent rest and the 250 I can shoot them in the eye, doesn't mess up any meat. That's what I did on my pig this year. Here's last years pig, 220 pounds, shot him behind the ear, Joe.

I think this is the first deer with the 250.

Great pics guys. RAS-really liking the good old red and black plaid Woolrich. I still have Dad's old Woolrich coat. 'Goes to deer camp with me every year, but for some reason, it has shrunk over the last 4 decades and doesn't fit me any more...

Our season comes in in early November and I hope to have some pics to add to this thread.

Congratulations, Billy.

A little overkill, don'tcha think???????? grin grin laugh laugh

BTW.........That would be a "jailable" offense here in NH. Rifles/turkey very much frowned upon.

Beautiful bird.
