I have killed several elk with the 257 WBY and 100 gr Nosler B. T. bullets. I know it will not work but it has in the past. Am thinking about trying the Berger 115 gr Hunting VLD. What do you guys who have tried the Bergers think.

I think it would work fine.

The Berger would work but if using the 25 cal use the Barnes 100 gr Triple Shock. It will kill Elk from your 257 Wby much better than you would think.

That's interesting, because a good friend of mine is an Arizona elk outfitter, who says he's had to chase more elk around after being shot by that combination than any other--and not because the bullets weren't placed right.
In contrast, a hunting partner of mine took a good 6x6 last fall here in Montana with one 120-grain Partition with a .257 Weatherby. The elk went about 75 yards, but it was all steeply downhill and the run ended when the bull ran head-on into a big Douglas fir, obviously dead on his feet.
Slicjack has taken several elk with the .257 Wby. and 100-grain Ballistic Tips, which is why I said the 115 Berger would do fine: He obviously knows where to shoot them.
I know a guy in Montana who has used the .25-06 and 100 BT's to take more than one cow elk. Most have exited.

I killed these two bulls using the Barnes 100 gt TXS and both dropped in their tracks . I shot the first one where the neck joins the body and the second one was hit behind the shoulders. I was using my 25 STW and not the Wby tho
