I thought I would show a custom order I just finished. It will be heading to a patient customer in a few days. It has a 5 inch blade made of CPM S30V, nickel silver guard and spacers and a handle I carved from sambar stag. These knives are the ones that are really fun to do and a relief when they are finished.

I reckon cleanup might be a tad rough after I got done with that after a day. [grins] but you have a great talent, that is beautiful work.

I was thinking the same thing. I'd be afraid to use it.

I find as I grow older, I still have some talent, but next to no patience. It would take me 3 lifetimes to make that now, aassuming I could. I feel my lack of patience really keeps me from utilizing all my skills. Oh well. Some have it, and some don't...........

I'll post a couple of more pictures of the handle soon as my camera battery charges.

Clean-up isn't so bad for most of the work these knives do. Sitting on a desk and opening a few letters doesn't get them too dirty. grin They are designed to do the normal work of a hunter though and I would not hesitate to use it for dressing a deer. A little soap and warm water should clean it up just fine and like all stag handle knives a little fine mineral oil rubbed on it from time to time will keep it looking good for generations.

This Bowie shows a little more of what we do with carved handles. This one has a carved Damascus blade as well. I have used this knife to chop a 2X4 in two with no problems and I would not hesitate to use the knife for its intended purpose if the need arose. Stag is tough stuff and the carved handle is still about 1/4 inch thick with built in support at each end.

Thank you for sharing pictures that show your exemplary talent! May I know how long it takes for an order similar to that one and the price thereof?
