For a fun gun not a serious gun, who makes something that is worth buying? If a complete lower can you punch the pins and replace the trigger, hammer with something better???

Here's a pic of a polymer lower that snapped in shipping. I'd probably not get one.

I have a couple of these:

Mine are the original CAV Arms, no problems with them. I'm putting them up for my daughters.

First gen, don't buy.

Newer ones are fine and have beefed up receiver extensions. My best friend's only AR is a CAV one that's nice and light. Only downside is no single point sling attachment.

I bought one to try out. It worked fine but I never used it as an impact weapon. I sold it just because.

I have a Lake Havasu Carbon 15. It was produced in Arizona but has a Bushmaster brand.

It has been a very solid gun, reliable and accurate. it weighs 5 lbs without optics. I put a Geissele Special Match trigger in the lower. It had a standard GI FCG.

My nieces love to shoot it because of the light weight.

A guy at work just bought a complete polymer lower and let me check it out the other day. Looked nicer than I expected. Will probably start stashing away parts for an ultralight build for my son soon.

The Poly lower saves about 4 oz. Not an apples to apples switch but gives you the idea.

Did the poly lower have a poly hammer and other light parts in it? Would have expected more of a weight savings.

Yes, all poly. Part of my eval. The Al lower had the Hogue grip and winter trigger guard. I do not know if they are of more weight. The poly trigger parts actually made for a pretty nice trigger.

I've had my New Frontier Polymer lower for awhile, and now it's my SBR. It gets the most range time (several times a month) of any firearm I have.

I have used most commonly acquired solvents to clean and lube, with no issues. I have fired a total of thousands (with an "s") of rounds made up of a combination of:
9m
5.56
6.5 Grendel

Only issue I had (one I spoke of awhile ago) is tight pin holes when I first got it.

Thats it.

It's my favorite AR build. Here it is now, in all of it's glory.

I didn't think new frontier had been out long enough to get the paperwork back.

How long was the wait?

I don't understand why I would paint it gold, but the paperwork took a long time. 10 months I think? Nine maybe? Either way it was nearly twice as long as the suppressor paperwork.

They may work but I still don't understand why. Quality aluminum lowers are very available, and for not much more money. I don't know why anyone would want to chance it with a polymer lower given all the better options.

It looks shiny gold colored in the pic. I have seen some odd paint schemes of late.

People used to say the same thing about Glocks. Not to say AR lowers are to that standard, yet, but poly-based rifles are the way of the future, without question.
