I'm considering buying a .44Mag lever-action this year, and was wondering what the opinions were regarding the Henry Big Boy. - Mostly 'cause I don't have a .44Mag lever-action. - Mostly would be for deer hunting (unscoped). - Kinda like the way it looks....
Anybody know anything about build quality, reliability, accuracy, customer service, "clunkiness" on this design?
Thanks, Pine

I've looked at the Henry. It is clunky and just is not true to the "traditional" lever gun IMHO. I have a couple of Marlin 1894 Lever guns in 44 Mag, as well as 45 Colt and 357 Mag. I like them and find them very reliable and accurate. TO me that's the way to go. Easy to scope, if you want to, or take down and clean from the breech. Tha't the way to go for me.

Take a look at the Puma 92's from Legacy Sports. Quality is top notch, accuracy is good and the actions are smooth as silk.

I love the feel of a Henrys that I've had a chance to shoot at the range. They tend to cycle very nicely and have good accuracy but I just can't get over the brass barrel band on the 44 version. I have a Marlin 1894 and wish it could cycle as smoothly as the Henry. Just a little too much flash for me. I'll wait for Henry to produce an all blued model but if you don't mind the color, go for it!

I love my Henry!!! Cycles well and has exceptional accuracy. I use mine mainly as a saddle gun. I would recommend getting the large loop. The standard loop is a little small for my hands.
