I have a rem ml and use the #11 primers. Its shoots really well with different powders and I dont see a need to switch. Antler Add, I know youve made the switch. (I have used 777 3f and it shoots the same as the 2f.)
Im afraid the 209 wont shoot as well and Im hearing that the 209 might be TOO hot. Remington came out with a cooler burning 209 primer just for muzzle loader. Any thoughts?

If #11s work, why change?

I did the Cabela's conversion in mine (when I had one). Worked and shot well before - worked and shot well afterwards. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Was using Winchester 209s without much issue (better have a scope protector either way).
WHUT?

I've often contemplated the $40 switch for my Ruger, but it ain't broke with the #11's. Once I figured out in the beginning how to solve the misfire problem with the 77/50...it's been problem free and has top shelve accuracy...Can't see a lot to gain by switching over.

maestro, if the #11's are working well and your happy no need to make the switch. As mentioned previously I switched b/c #11's were not dependable in my rifle with 777. With RS & #11's I had no issues with ignition or groups.
As far as the cabela's 209 (which is what I replaced my factory #11 guts with) I have not experienced any problems what so ever. BTW, I use winchester 209W's dependable and shoot great.

Purchase the red tin RWS Dynamit Nobel #1075 caps.
They are the best by far.

Variflame makes a 209-size primer container that accepts a small rifle primer. It works with any ML that uses 209 primer ignition (I assume it will work with conversions also), and solves the problem of the 209's being too hot. Pretty slick, includes the tools needed to seat and unseat the rifle primers.
