It may not be very fancy, but choices were limited. My 9 year old son is right handed and left eye dominate. He has learned to shoot left handed from day one. After much searching, I found a Savage Axis in .243 and left handed. The look on his face when I gave it to him this afternoon out of the blue, was amazing. We sighted it in early this evening and he is putting 3 inch groups at 50 yards on his first time out with a centerfire. He's dying to shoot more, but I have to dig up some more ammo. Opening day of deer is the first Monday in November, or I would of held it for Christmas. He can practice some this way.

I'm sure he'll get many years of enjoyment from that rifle. Plus Boyd's is making a replacement stock for that rifle now, which will greatly improve that rifle. I'm sure you and your boy will have a great deer season together.

Good on you! Great to get the kids involved.
I enjoy handguns and I really like shotguns,...but I love rifles!

After dinner last night, he just had it on his lap and just sat and stared at it. He threw a fit at bedtime and had to have it in his room. I let him, but made him install the cable lock since it wasn't in the safe. I'm going to check a couple places today in my travels for work and try to find some more ammo.
I looked at the Boyd's stocks thinking about a Christmas present, but it does not appear that they make them in left handed, am i wrong?
