I found a lightweight custom Mauser made by Barnes Custom Shop and I am looking for some info about either the builder or the action. The action is a DWM of Berlin and I believe the stock to be a Basner. It has a model 70 style safety and a stainless #1 contour barrel. The rifle has been coated with a black Teflon or birdsong type coating and weights I'm guessing about 7lbs with rings and a vx3 2-8x36 up top. The feel of the action and trigger are awesome and I'm really liking this rifle but I just don't know much about these Mauser clones. Almost forgot it does have the oberndorf bottom metal and the fit and finish looks great. Any help with the value/quality of these actions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

DWM of Berlin is no Mauser clone; that there is a MAUSER. If your weight estimate is right w/ glass and all that sounds like about the lightest I have heard of. What's the chambering?
Sounds like a fantastic package to me!

Yeah it's very light. The more I look around it may be a brown precision stock. 30-06 is the Chambering. Do you think $1300 for the package sounds reasonable?

I believe its a 1909 argentine DMW. Again I don't know much about them but it felt great to me. Very much like my pre-64 70.

That is a real customized Mauser with all the bells and whistles. It's worth what you are willing to pay, but I would bet the work on it cost considerably more than 1300 all told.
All I can say is, I hope it shoots.

Sounds like a real nice rifle. IIRC, I paid more than half of what they are asking for the completed rifle w/ scope you are looking at just for the same action in almost pristine condition....... 25+ years ago....... I also recall the 1909's, and G-33/40's being the very desirable darlings of the custom Mauser rifle trade so demand kept the price up. I haven't kept up with the pricing of these actions so I'm not going to speculate on today's cost but, I would imagine they have at least held their value or very likely gone up. As mentioned earlier, if it shoots fine that sounds like a fantastic package and price.
