Just picked up a nice hunting rifle and was wondering if someone could help me date it. serial # 640xxx and has 20D embossed on the lever. Any info is appreciated. Thank you. Mike

Congrats! Guessing it's a 99EG with the thin forearm with schnabel tip? Only two models made at that time, the 99EG and the 99R which has a fat forearm with rounded end. Great hunting rifles, and even better pickup when it's a 250-3000 rather than the more common 300 Savage.

Should be 1 in 14 but they vary a little, best to measure it.
