Yes the Model 14 and 141 are what I'm referring to in the Remington Pump with the preference going to the Model 141

DMc any feeding or extraction issues with your bolt rifles?

I would be interested in a Contender Carbine or a Rem 760 in 35 rem
if any knows where I could find one or a bolt action .

Keith, the extraction problems mentioned previously are a result of the head size difference on the bolt face of bolt action rifles. The 35 Remington has a head size of .460 whereas the 308 based cartridges (i.e. 358 Winchester) have a .473 head size. It's a simple procedure to "open" a bolt face, but to make one smaller..., not so easy. That's the primary problem often overlooked by people wanting to build a custom 35 Remington. Very few rifles are made with a .460 bolt face. I've never had any feeding or extraction issues but I've never used an over-sized bolt face either.

The difference in bolt face is enough that some rifles with a .473 bolt face will extract, and some wont. You can always have the bolt bushed and machined. Or some type of Sako extractor installed, if one dares. The primary problem isnt extraction, but feeding. The feed ramp is different and the magazine box lips will need arranged. Getting them all to play nice wasnt something I could do. And believe me I tried. If one has the time, money, and a good smith that knows his schit, itll work.

Remington made a short run of 7600 pumps dubbed Police or 7600P. Their purpose was to be a companion to the 870s carried in Patrol cars. They were chambered in 223 and 308, The barrel length was 16 inches and the 223 would accept an AR-15 magazine. The 7600 posted above is a copy of the 7600P only chambered in 35 Remington. Makes a terrific truck gun and general deep woods, heavy thicket, soggy bottom, gully, and/or gulch gun. Perfect rifle for tracking wounded game as it's super fast on point and mechanically flawless.

Ive had fun with other 7600 configurations also:

7600 260 Remington, 20" barrel, straight grip 20 gauge 870 "Special Field" stock.

I believe the simplest solution would be to get an aftermarket bolt with the bolt face cut correctly.

Also known as the "Amish Machine Gun" due to it's popularity in the N'East and it's quick rapid fire capability!

Hard to fault a pump. 1" MOA is common.

Yes they did but the OP says the M700 and M7 are to expensive. A P64 M70 in 35 Rem will set you back A LOT of money.

About 20 years ago, at the first gun shop I worked in, it was a very busy fall evening on the indoor rifle range as hunters waited in line to get in to check the zero on their deer rifles. There were probably 3 guys waiting and they all left their rifles laying on a table in front of the range master's desk as they nosed around the store waiting their turn. I walked back to the range area to get a soda out of the drink machine and happened to glance at the table. I vividly remember there was a Marlin .30/30, a Remington "Jam-O-Matic" and what looked like a Pre-64 70 with iron sights. I casually walked over and turned it over to see what caliber it was. I was shocked to see it was a .35 Rem. and it was near pristine! I asked the range guy who it belonged to and he said "That young guy waiting on the range." I walked back into the store area and approached the "young guy", about 20 years old, looking at scopes. I asked if he owned the gun and he said "Yeah, my grandpa left me that one." I jokingly offered him trade on any new rifle in the store, including a Weatherby Lazermark in his choice of caliber, but as expected, he declined because of the sentimental value. I respected that and told him that if he EVER changed his mind, to look me up. I also told him to take good care of it and told him that it was worth several thousand dollars. At the time, I remember seeing them in the Gun List once in awhile for in the $4,000 range. To my horror, he was considering having it drilled and tapped for a scope and I encouraged him to buy a rifle ready to be scoped and leave that one as is. He agreed, but I never saw him again so who knows what became of that fine rifle. I think of it often, kind of like the many hot girls that got away....

I believe one of the guys here built a 35REM on a Stevens M200 action not long ago. I once saw a M70 35REM that had been rechambered to 35WHELEN at a gunshow back in the mid 90s.

Steelhead's suggestion to buy a 358 Win is the best option IMO. I load Hornady 200gr FTX bullets in my 350 mag at max 35 Rem velocity.
