I have found some of this Hodgson powder and am curious what others have been loading with it. I am looking at 223 up through 308. I am also hoping that it will meter well. From some basic research it looks like it is fairly close to Varget which is very hard to find.

Not even close to varget. It's an extreme version of 335. Gives you all the best of 335 with none of the bad. I use it in 223, 22.250, 243, and also use it in a 220 swift. Meters we'll enough to set the measure, then just throw and go.

I use it in 45-70 with 405 grain Remingtons, and in 405 Winchester with 300 grain Barnes X bullets. It works well for stout loads in either of those two. Haven't tried it in anything smaller.

I use it in my 204, and have had good luck with it in my 223's. Doesn't meter like 335 though since it is not a ball powder. Still has nice little kernals though they meter pretty good.

It is my go to powder in my 223 shooting the 55 gr Vmax.

Meters very well out of my Dillon 550B.

It's all I use for .223 with a variety of bullet weights and styles.

Benchmark works well for me in the 223 with 40 grain Nosler Ballistic-tip bullets.

Benchmark meters/ works better than varget for 55 grain bullets and under. It does not give as high velocities as H335 though.

Anyone try this powder in a 7mm-08 with 140gr bullets? I picked up a couple pounds because my local store had it on stock, no real use for it at the moment.

Just snagged two pounds of this stuff myself, looking forward to using it in my .405 Winchester... apparently gives up to 10% higher velocity with the Hornady 300-grainers.

Semi-OT but shooting the nostalgic .405 cartridge should do wonders if I have a head cold while using it, that thing kicks the SNOT out of me...

My 405 Winchester is in a Ruger #1H, so it is not too bad. Still comes back with 300 grainers at 2450 +. wink

My 17 Fireball shoots well with Benchmark and Hornady 2o grainers.

My g8-g8 uncle was Barney Riggs. Google and read about him. He roamed around the southwest, mainly west Tx and Az and NM territory. History credits him with from 9 - 12 men he killed, not counting Mexicans and Indians. Family lore has it at 18.

60 grains under partitions. Fine metering. Sharp recoil out of my Marlin 1895SS 45/70 and 1 1/2" at 100 yards

I love benchmark in the 17 rem, 223, 223 AI, 22-250 with 40 grainers, 6mm rem with 55 grainers, 260 with 100 grainers, and my 45-70 with 350g hornady flat points. It meters great for a non-ball powder. It's a little fast burning to get good velocities with the bullets I like in a 308 but it does ok.
