A few years ago I started trying to get plates from any new state I visited or hunted in..same for any foreign countries.
Just a fun little hobby that adds come color to a wall in the garage! I'm trying to get all 50 States up.. at this point, I'm almost half way there. Some states I've visited I don't have (was before I started). And some are just hard to come by!
I've also got a few really cool plates from New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Northern Territory in Aussie, Limpopo and East Cape in RSA, Kyrgyzstan and a few Provs in Canada.
Anyone else dabble in the hobby? They certainly make neat conversation pieces on the garage wall.

Would you like me to keep an eye out for an old New South Wales plate?
These are my opinions, feel free to disagree.

J That would be much appreciated! Certainly was not expecting to be offered a plate by anyone. That is very generous of you. I've been in and out of NSW a few times (been to Oz twice). Never did pick one up up there so it'd certainly be a new addition to the wall.
Thanks again for the generous offer!

I wouldn't call it collecting, but we have picked up a few from Western states we have visited. My daughter has a Colorado tag on the front of her car, my son a Montana tag. I used to have a Wyoming tag on the front of my truck. Rear tags only are required here and anything on the front is legal.
Has started a few conversations over the years having to explain that I'm not really from Wyoming, but did stay in a Holiday Inn there once.
If you need a GA tag PM me. I've got a couple extra laying around.

shoot me a PM if you want a NJ plate.
Quit giving in inch by inch then looking back to lament the mile behind ya and wonder how to preserve those few feet left in front of ya. They'll never stop until they're stopped. That's a fact.

shoot me a PM if you want a NJ plate. same here for a Virginia. My grandfather saved all of his from the 30's-mid 60's here when you used to get new ones each yesr. One year black, the next white. He had a garage wall covered in them and nobody knows where they got off to after he died.

He had a garage wall covered in them and nobody knows where they got off to after he died. yeah most of my relatives did the same thing, as I am from the same area originally... I'm out of town, but can set you up with some Oregon and also California plates, as each car I have bought from my folks when they get a new car, came with California plates, plus I have saved a batch of Oregon plates from vehicles I no longer own... I use to collect them, but in my travels etc, I finally quit doing so... I use to have a couple 100 of them... That plate from the NW Territories, when I was touring the far north there in the summer of 89, all sorts of tourist traps where selling expired non issued NWT Polar Bear Plates... I had a Yukon plate I found in the middle of the road along the ALCAN when it was dirt in a lot of places... however, it turned out to be a current issued plate at the time, having fallen off someone's vehicle... so the US Border Patrol confiscated it when I entered the US again in Washington...actually they were really pricks at the time...
